Description
This is part of a four piece series I did not too long after the war started. In the series I try to express my emotions toward young soilders. I was a senior in high school when 9-11 happened, and many of my peers had already signed with the military without concieving the idea that a war would happen so soon. I myself came close to signing with the military thinking it was my only chance to be able to pay for college - I changed my mind though and did not go through with it.

It's a good thing you didn't join if college money is the only reason, you would have been disenchanted very quickly. Hell, I joined to pay off my loans and get experience in my degree field, luckily, I have.
I like this piece alot just because it doesn't force an opinion down your throat, but actually gives the reader some freedom to interpret as they see fit.

On 9-11 in my classroom, all the people who had joined - I didn't really see regret in their face - it was more like uncertainity of what was going to happen to them.
